Harvest Festival pays the piper
Written by Peggy ONeill

Music students at Georgian Bay Secondary School in Meaford are singing with joy.

The Apple Harvest Craft Show Committee is donating 25 thousand dollars to the high school's music department to purchase new instruments and repair old ones.

Patrick Delaney, the head of the music department, has more than 155 students and says three or four students were having to share one instrument.

Delaney says they are trying to make the money go as far as possible but they are buying quality instruments you wouldn't normally see in a school.

Delaney says they had no idea this huge donation was coming.

The music department is putting a big thank-you ad in the Meaford newspaper this week and music students have also been writing letters of appreciation to the committee.

The new instruments will arrive at the school by the end of April.
