Residents of Meaford no longer have far to drive to be able to drive.

A local branch of the Drivers and Vehicle License Issuing Office re-opened this week in Meaford, but at a different location than the previous office.

Owner of the new office, Elizabeth Cody says the licensing office will be located at 25 Nelson Street East, which is also home to her flower shop.  

She says it will allow Meaford residents to have a licensing office nearer to home, saving trips to Owen Sound, Collingwood or Markdale.

Cody says Meaford has required a licensing office since the old one closed this past January, when the previous owner retired.

She says there was an application process involved with being able to own one of these offices.

Cody said she was responsible for upgrades necessary to open the office, including hiring 2 new people.
