Development on Old Globe Mills property in Meaford is almost complete.

A senior/adult building is being constructed on the south side of Sykes Street in the municipality. There are 4 buildings on the property with 27 suites in the complex, all of which are on one floor. Consultant, Peter Lush says the site is unique because of the one floor set-up and they will have wheelchair access for seniors. Lush says another great feature of the property is it's right along the water, providing a great view and walking area for residents. Rent is around 1 thousand dollars, which is all inclusive, and rooms will be available when the construction is complete. Lush says they are within 2 weeks of completion, with furnishing being the final step. The project was 2 years in the making and had some slowdowns because of hydro issues and environmental evaluations -- which have all been cleared. An Open House will be held one the project is finished.
