Signs, signs, everywhere in Meaford, there's signs.

Councillor, Francis Richardson says council is considering a change to their sign bylaw. Richardson says one concern is signs which may be blocking other signs as drivers approach Meaford. He says a number of those are on municipal property and there's a concern they didn't get proper permission to put the signs in those spots. A business has told Council his sign, which was on his property, is being hidden by other signs which is on municipal property. The second issue, Richardson says, is the number of sandwich board signs put on sidewalks for businesses that are off the main street. Richardson says those signs are becoming a hazard and a liability issue and may cause problems for the municipality since the signs are on their property. One proposal being suggested is all signs be removed from municipal property and two large multi-part signs be built. Richardson expects the issue to come up in the planning department and from there it will go to a public meeting.
