Meaford's garbage is going to Michigan.

Mayor Wally Reif says economically Michigan is the best deal in town. He says it was a matter of money because tipping fees in Ontario are greater than those across the border. Reif says Miller Waste will provide the waste transfer services. He says Miller Waste has a back up deal with landfills in Ontario to take the garbage if the border is ever closed. Reif says waste transfer is a short term solution. He says the municipality should be looking at new technology to destroy the garbage in a safe manner.
