The Meaford and St.Vincent Agricultural Society has unveiled a new cattle exhibition building. The building, which is named the Amanda Turner building, cost 26 thousand dollars and is 32 hundred square feet. President of the Meaford and St. Vincent Agricultural Society, Verla Cramp-White says the building is named after eleven-year-old Amanda Turner, a former St. Vincent 4-H Calf Club member, who died in a car crash in January 2001. The new show barn replaces a much older wooden structure which had been damaged by winds and snow. The Agricultural Society put together many fundraising initiatives to construct the new building. Plans on replacing the old building began in 1999, despite limited financial resources, but Cramp-White says businesses, the municipality and the Apple Harvest Craft Show helped get the job done.
