Meaford residents dont have to worry.
People who use the Meaford and Leith Water system should not worry about the quality of their drinking water. Meaford CAO Chris Webb says the water supply is secure and is free of any contamination. He says the water for both Meaford and Leith is being treated and there are numerous protective measures in place at both treatment plants. Webb says there are anumber of safeguards in place so that they are not relying solely on MDS labs to tell them if their water is safe. He says the lab tests are just to confirm that the water is meeting provincial standards. Webb says trained operators are making sure that the water is safe. Meanwhile Municipal water plant operators now being asked to submit water samples to the Bruce Grey Health for further testing this weekend. Manager of Health Protection Lou D'Allesandro says this extra testing will ensure that there is no problem s with any local water systems. He says at this point there is no need for anyone to boil their drinking water.D'Allesandro says water from all the water works in question has been subjected to chlorination and that pretty well eliminates any chance of any form of contamination.
