The garbage police are coming to Meaford.

The town of Meaford is going to use the same plan being implemented in Owen Sound, where inspectors will go through garbage bags to see if there are recyclable items in the trash. Businesses and residents will be fined if the inspectors find recyclables. Meaford Councillor Harley Greenfield likes the idea. He says they have to go their part to extend the life of the Genoe landfill. There are two years left on the life of the landfill. A meeting will be held Wednesday to go over the plan.
