Part-time soldiers took part in a major live-fire training exercise at a military base in Meaford over the weekend. Although the exercise lasted only 90 minutes from start to finish, the soldiers fired 400-thousand dollars worth of ammunition. The military says an exercise of that magnitude hasn't been done for reservists in at least 10 years in Ontario, and most in the reserves can go an entire career without seeing anything like it.The event brought together nearly all the kinds of weapons used by the Canadian Forces. The live-fire exercise was combined with the annual cold-weather training exercise, which also occurred over the weekend at Land Force Central Area Training Centre in Meaford.
