The Meaford Museum opened in 1961 and is located at the intersection of Bayfield and Collingwood streets, right beside Richardson Boats Ltd. at the Meaford Harbour. The building was the town's water pumping station in earlier years and was converted to a museum largely through the efforts of the Kent Womens' Institute. More recently, the museum has been the centre of attention for many Meaford residents. Bruce Sheppard, a local resident and retired ship Captain has spent many years seeing to the details of transforming the Museum into the popular attraction that it is today.

Visitors are advised to call 519-538-5974 for open dates and hours of operation

Tanglefoot in Concert Location: Meaford Hall, Opera House Date: Saturday April 12th, 2008 Ticket Price: $30.00 each Details: Winners of the 2007 Canadian Folk Music Award for best vocal group.

Tanglefoot is a rampaging mix of energy, musical agility, exquisite vocal polish and sheer enthusiasm.

Their label-defying sound and vigorous approach are the result of five distinctly talented individuals working as a true collective. Tanglefoot demonstrate themselves to be masters of the story-telling tradition of folk music, many of their songs based on often extremely compelling and poignant tales that the band have heard during more than two decades of touring. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given these musicians' vintage, their set is a diverse one which demonstrated the impressive range of their talents, from humorous narrative-style songs (to ambient, Celtus-esque dalliances with electronica, to some genuinely moving ballads.
