| 2000 brand new ducks are about to embark on their second journey through
Meaford on July 4th. The event is being hosted by the Meaford and District
Cooperative Preschool. To kickoff the race the preschool will be holding
a fundraiser BBQ from 11am-2pm at Meaford Foodland on the 4th. The cut
off for tickets will be 1:30pm on race day. The race starts at 2pm on the
Saturday with a fleet of 2000 bright yellow numbered ducks fully clad in
army fatigues, nurse's uniforms, hockey uniforms, fire department gear,
hippie outfits, doctors outfits and many more interesting outfits. The
ducks will be dumped off the bridge in Meaford and will then make their
way through town and into the harbour where they will cross the finish
line. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th duck across the
finish line. Prizes will be announced soon.
Tickets are now available at various locations in Meaford. Each duck is up for adoption for $5 each or 3 for $12 and all proceeds will be donated to the Meaford Co-operative Preschool. To purchase your tickets please call the preschool at (519) 538-3854 or watch for tickets being sold around town at Muxlow Pharmacy, Johnson & Robertson Financial and various locations in Meaford. Tickets will also be for sale on the May long weekend at Bill's Valumart during the Preschool's fundraiser BBQ. | Rules and Regulations
1. A maximum of 2000 ducks will be sold at $5.00 each. Multiple entries are accepted. (Purchaser must be 18 years of age or older). 2. Ducks will be launched into the river at 2:00pm on Saturday, July 4th, 2009. 3. Every duck sold will be automatically entered in the race. All ducks remain the property of the Meaford Co-operative Preschool. 4. To purchase a duck(s), all entrants must purchase a ticket. 5. Once the ducks are launched, they are on their own. No attempt to free or interfere with any duck will be permitted unless deemed necessary by the organizing committee. 6. Winners need not be present to win. Winners will be notified by telephone. 7. All prizes will be awarded as stated. 8. If any winner does not come forward to claim the prize won within 30 days of the race, that winner's prize is forfeited and the Judges will declare another winner for the prize so forfeited. 9. The decision of the Judges will be final. 10. All net proceeds will be donated to The Meaford Co-operative Preschool. 11. In the event the race cannot take place due to inclement weather or other adverse conditions, a lottery drawing will occur at the same time and location. Proceeds to Meaford Co-operative Preschool.
