| We offer: ~a growing congregation ~a vibrant music ministry ~a new facility in a picturesque Georgian Bay community |
We value: ~Biblical teachings ~effective Sunday School ~youth programs ~service to others |
Our purpose has remained true to the Shorter Catechism's expression of human purpose: "Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever."
Knox has been blessed with a very generous congregation, this is evidenced by our new facility at 591 St. Vincent Street. At a time when many congregations are struggling to maintain older buildings, we have a new facility that is both efficient and beautiful. The present structure is approximately three and a half years old, but the worshipping community has a much longer heritage being among the first churches founded in the Meaford area. Our history and faithfulness to our Presbyterian heritage are important to our congregation. In the sanctuary our memorial stained glass windows bear silent testimony to the sacrifice and faith of our forebears.
On October 25th, 1998 a new memorial stained glass window was installed and dedicated in the chancel. The design is the creation of Sue Obata and is a beautiful contemporary piece depicting our Saviour's Cross on the shores of Georgian Bay. Why not consider joining us for worship and viewing this artistic presentation of our faith?
But Knox is not a self-focused community... there are many fine examples of Christian charity that are over-seen by our Mission Committee. In the past we have supported: inner-city mission work at Evangel Hall, Golden Town Outreach here in Meaford, the Woman's Place in Owen Sound, and overseas missionaries David and Mariam Barrie who served in Malawi. Presently, we are involved in the Bighead River Food Grain Project in an effort to feed the hungry overseas.
Knox is a family oriented church
with a burgeoning Sunday school that provides our children with a grounding
in the Christian Faith. Sunday school takes place during the hour of worship
which commences at 10:00 a.m. each Sunday. We have a very active service
group in our Ladies' Guild who cater meals, meet for fellowship and study,
and provide for many worthwhile causes within the congregation. Our mid-week
Bible study group meet to discuss the texts for Sunday service enjoying
learning and assisting the minister in preparing his sermons.
Music is an exciting part of the worship at Knox. Our Senior Vocal Choir
offers a variety of anthems during our regular services. We also enjoy
the uplifting voices of our Junior Choir from time to time.
Knox also enjoys the music of our Handbell Choir under the leadership of
Eleanor McDougall. The bells offer a unique sond that adds to many of our
Sunday services.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our web page. It is our prayer that your curiosity will lead you to consider your own participation in our faith community. Why not come and visit us for worship? Be assured of a friendly welcome, Biblically centred preaching, uplifting music, and heartfelt prayer in praise of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
