Lynda Stephens - Councillor
My name is Lynda Stephens and I am running for Council for the November Election.

My message:
The overall health of this community is very important to me. I am open-minded, honest and determined. This has been demonstrated by the five years that I have served on the Waste Management, now Environmental Services Public Advisory Committee.

Council's job is to develop policy and procedures in the 'best interest' of the Municipality. Not only are we to do this, we must also follow those rules ourselves. This builds a strong foundation. Fortunately, we have started moving in this direction (ie: accountability, fiscal responsibility, customer service etc.) and I would like to see us continue. There is so much more that needs to be accomplished in order to be prepared for future development and growth. Where there is a will, there is a way!

We have an opportunity to be a healthy example to other Municipalities who are also struggling with similar issues (and there are many).

I choose to live here in this beautiful place and would like to leave it to the next generation in a healthier condition.

Background:
· Active Municipal Waste Management committee member for 5 years
· 2002 Communities in Bloom Executive Team Member
· Adopt-a-garden volunteer
· Wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
· Certified Reflexologist and Massage Practitioner

Platform:
Contribute to the community by:
· Using Common sense
· Following the rules
· Treating all with dignity and respect for the "best interest" of our entire Municipality!

What do I think are the facts?
F   Future planning for development, growth, environment, resources, infrastructure
A  Accountability through responsibility
C  Community building with improved Communication
T  Taxes - do more with less
S  Sensible solutions to present and future issues = Sustainability

Our Municipality has huge potential that requires planned growth in order to keep its warm, friendly and diverse quality of life.

What would make me a good representative for you?
The answer is simple: I am open, honest and care about the health of this Municipality in all ways. I look forward to working together as a team to investigate creative solutions and build trust in our community.
