What are the tours like? 

Our bike and barge tours offer the best of both worlds - easy to moderate cycling on some of the finest cycling routes in Europe by day and the charming comforts of a converted barge by night.  Verdant river valleys, historic waterways, famous tulip fields, beautiful European villages - all this and more can be discovered on a Mair Bike and Barge trip.  And unpack only once, because your home-away-from-home is a lovingly restored canal barge that will be waiting for you at the end of each day.  Enjoy wonderful cuisine, relax on the sundeck with a glass of fine wine and then settle in for a cosy night's sleep in your cabin with private facilities.  We even provide the bike!  If you want to experience Europe from the ground up, this is the only way to go. 

Who can go on a bike and barge tour?  

Both novice and expert cyclists will enjoy bike and barge trips.  The riding is easy to moderate, primarily on cycle paths, and is fully guided by an experienced cycling guide.  Want a day off?  No problem!  Enjoy riding the barge for a day, no one's keeping score.  Although these tours are geared for adults, families with younger children can be accommodated on special tours.  Please contact us for details. 

Non-Cyclists or Special Groups? 

Barging can be a great way to pursue your passion for travel, even without the bike!  If you are a non-cyclist but wish to join one of our groups, we'd love to have you.  Or if you have a group of artists or photographers who would like to take advantage of barging to get from one picturesque locale to another, let us know!  Special groups can be arranged.

What is this tour like?  

It's the kind of tour that offers jaw-dropping scenery at every turn, in a tropical paradise, with a little exercise on the side.  Our Hawaii bike and hike tour offers "a little bit of bike, a little bit of hike and a whole lot of Hawaiian magic".  Imagine coasting gently down a lush mountainside, hiking to a private waterfall in the rainforest, biking through an impossibly carved windward valley and climbing to the top of a volcanic crater - all in one breathtaking location, the Island of Oahu.  Unpack once at your hotel and enjoy your home base in famous Waikiki, the dazzling crescent of sand that anchors this fabulous island.  This tour will give you a chance to absorb the wild, natural side of Oahu at a gentle pace, while still leaving plenty of time to visit places of historical significance and take in sights of unparalleled tropical beauty.  And...don't forget your bathing suit!   

Who can go on this tour?  

Our Hawaii tour is offered as both a group tour and an individual tour. This tour is suitable for cyclists, walkers and hikers who are reasonably fit and like to be active while on vacation.  You don't have to be a star athlete!  The biking is easy to moderate, fully guided by expert cycling guides and the bikes and helmets are provided.  The hiking is not strenuous, but locations can be hot, wet or both (it is Hawaii after all!).
